The Rossignol S3 2011′s “combined traditional and reverse camber design” leaves us scratching our heads… is this possible? Your guess is as good as ours, but this ski sure handles like it’s got the best of both worlds going on. Light enough to power through features in the pipe or park, this is primarily an in-bounds ski with the stiffness and rebound you need inbounds at eastern resorts. This is the modern ice ski. Sure, everyone wants reverse camber and rocker nowadays, but just because that’s trendy doesn’t mean it’s appropriate in all circumstances. This ski pulls off the styling and image of a deep snow, but make no mistake – it’s designed for ice. This thing likes high speeds and tight turns.

Tried a pair of the S3s when a buddy of mine who works for Rossignol brought them out to Sun Valley with him late last year. They were a blast, but you are right… definitely made for ice, not really a good western ski.
